Welcome

Welcome to our blog. This blog is to raise awareness to the problems arising from Mexico. The problem is that the cartels in Mexico are gaining more power every day. The cartels are now crossing the border into the U.S. and kidnapping people for ransom. The problem is not just Mexico’s problem anymore. When they come on to U.S. soil we need to take action against the cartels as well as the corrupt people in the Mexican government.

The Problem

The battles of between the numerous Mexican drug cartels is spilling blood into the United States and nothing is being done about it. Texas and Arizona are alone trying to deal with the violent turmoil that comes from the neighboring country of Mexico. The Mexican government is no help because they are out numbered by drug lords and the ones who are not out numbered are sleeping with the enemy.

The state of Arizona is the second highest kidnapping sight only second to the country of Mexico itself. United States citizens are not safe. Innocent people are being kidnapped and held for financial extortion. The person is either held for ransom from their family, or they are held until their bank accounts have been drained. It they are lucky they will be release after there accounts are dry, but most likely they will be murdered.

Possible Solutions

Some people feel that we should have open boarders with Mexico. I think this is a very scary thought considering Mexico's current state of affairs. When drug cartels are making a 6000% profit on their drug sales its not likely that they will stop their felonious acts anytime soon. However that doesn't mean there aren't actions that can be taken.
1. We could build a solid fence on the United States and Mexican boarder. This may initially cost more than our current enforcement methods, or lack there of, but I feel it would pay for itself in the long run. Not only would it help keep drug trafficker's out it would help keep illegal immigrants out. We would save money not only by being able to reduce drug enforcement but by also reducing the number of illegals crossing the boarder and the costs of deporting them.
2. We could team up with the Mexican government and wage war against the drug cartels. It would probably be worse than the drug wars that occurred in Columbia. This would also be difficult because the U.S. is not sure which members of the Mexican government may be paid of by the drug lords.
3. The third option is to do the "unthinkable" and legalize all drugs. For many people this wouldn't be an option. They feel that it would increase drug use and abuse. However if people are going to choose to do drugs they probably already do them. It is often easier for minors to gain access to amphetamines than alcohol; so would legalizing it really make a difference? If we did this the government could control and regulate drugs. Apply the profits to drug education and rehabilitation services and the money saved from the "war on drugs" could easily pay for a fence at the border to solve the other problem of illegal immigration. However if the drug wars in Mexico were over many of the citizens that are seeking refuge in the U.S. would stay in Mexico.
